Technical Manager

Mansfield, Nottinghamshire

Up to 60,000 DOE

We are currently recruiting for a Technical Manger to join a growing business based near Mansfield, Nottinghamshire (due to location own transport is essential), they are a strong, professional, forward thinking business. This role will be pivotal to support the Quality Team and assisting with moving the team forward as the production requirement grows.

Key Responsibilities for the Technical Manager

  • Manage technical standards within the packhouse to ensure day to day compliance with all food safety and quality standards
  • Lead the QC/QA function, be Team leader for both HACCP and TACCP and ensure effective systems are maintained at all times
  • Ensure accurate and up to date product specifications are in place for all suppliers and manage their performance, Approve all new suppliers
  • Manage all site audits in respect of customers, statutory bodies and third parties as well as internal audits such as BRC and APS
  • Coordinate product testing through an effective sampling programme to verify quality and safety
  • Manage all customer complaints appropriately, maintain a trend analysis and keep all staff updated
  • Keep up to date with any legislative changes and customer specification changes relating to food production and notify staff as appropriate
  • Technical KPI updates
  • Be customer facing as and when requiredand monitor customer complaints and rejection analysis on a monthly base
  • Maintain supplier/grower database, database of retailer label information and Internal Auditing schedule ensure all areas of the BRC are audited
  • Management of residue & micro testing schedule
  • Managing QA Equipment and Calibration, internal & external
  • Maintaining internal Document control and all customer portals on a routine basis

Key Skills of the Technical Manager

  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good IT skills, must be competent in the use of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, Power BI experience.
  • The ability to problem-solve
  • Experience in leading a team and driving expectations
  • Good communication with the ability to communicate at all levels
  • The ability to work well under pressure whilst meeting deadlines
  • Good multi-tasking skills
  • Confident, professional and tenacious
  • Previous experience within a Quality environment essential
  • Food Industry background preferable
  • Conscientious and keen problem solver with an eye for detail
  • Adaptable within a fast paced environment with good team building skills
