Academics, a leading education recruitment agency, is looking for a dedicated 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to work in Mansfield, supporting a Year 8 pupil within a local Alternative Provision. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the life of a young learner.

As a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with a Year 8 pupil who is currently working at a KS1 level. Your support will be crucial in helping them engage with their learning, manage their behaviour, and build their confidence.

The role also involves:

  • Providing 1:1 learning support tailored to the pupil's individual needs.
  • Managing challenging behaviour effectively and maintaining a positive learning environment.
  • Supporting the pupil with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
  • Using creative strategies to enhance learning at a KS1 level.
  • Encouraging outdoor activities and supporting the pupil's development outside the classroom.
  • Supporting the pupil with basic computer skills to aid their learning journey.
  • Co-operating with and helping to improve education and training.

This is a temporary, long-term post working 3 days per week from 9AM to 2PM, offering an excellent work-life balance while making a significant impact on a young person's education.

Essential Experience:
  • Experience working with KS1 learners is a must, particularly those who require extra support in their learning.
  • Proven experience in managing challenging behaviour.
  • A strong understanding of SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs and how to support pupils in this area.
  • A proactive and adaptable attitude, with the ability to think creatively to engage the pupil.
Desirable:
  • Team Teach training is desirable but not essential, as training can be provided.
