I am seeking a Head of Digital Engineering to lead a critical role in a significant transformation across digital platforms. This position requires an experienced leader to drive the Digital Engineering strategy, focusing on enhancing the agility and efficiency of the department and growing the eCommerce platform. The role involves leading a large-scale MACH architecture and composable commerce transformation program. You must have a large-scale retail background.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Lead the transformation and modernisation of our eCommerce platform to ensure scalability, robustness, and high transaction volume capability.
- Develop and maintain product and technical roadmaps that align with company goals and evolving industry trends, driving innovation in solution design.
- Provide strong leadership across engineering teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, professional development, and high performance.
- Implement and enhance development processes that meet stringent quality, security, and scalability standards.
- Collaborate with various teams across the business to ensure seamless delivery of technical solutions that align with overall business objectives, with a focus on MACH principles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the creation and implementation of end-to-end eCommerce solutions that meet business and technical requirements.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, recommending scalable, high-performance solutions tailored to business needs, with an emphasis on MACH architecture and composable commerce principles.
- Provide technical leadership to cross-functional teams, ensuring effective collaboration to convert business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Enhance the performance, scalability, and reliability of eCommerce solutions, particularly in high-traffic environments.
- Ensure systems adhere to industry security standards and comply with regulations such as PCI DSS and GDPR.
- Establish quality assurance processes to maintain high standards in software development.
- Oversee technical documentation and lead knowledge transfer and training, focusing on MACH architecture and cloud-native development.
- Drive initiatives to enhance development processes, tooling, and automation.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 15+ years of relevant work experience in software development.
- 10+ years of management experience leading diverse engineering teams.
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in leading large-scale MACH architecture and composable commerce transformation programs.
- Deep understanding of DevOps and Agile methodologies.
- Strong technical expertise in software design, cloud-based solutions, and development methodologies.
- Leadership skills to manage large, distributed teams.
- Proficiency in cloud-native solutions and composable commerce architectures.
- Strong communication skills to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders
