Environmental Health Officer

We're looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Environment Health Officer to help protect and improve the well-being of the Southampton's resident. If you're committed to making difference, this is the perfect opportunity for you!

Salary: 29.59/ hour + shift allowance
Duration: 3 Months
Location: Southampton
Shift patterns: 7:30 to 4:00 pm ( one week per month Monday-Friday 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm / Saturday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm ) for a total of 37 hours/ week / Possibility of working from home.

Your will be responsible for:

  • Conduct surveys, investigations, and inspections, prepare reports, legal notices, and correspondence
  • Review development proposals, provide advice, and take appropriate action.
  • Stay updated on current legislation, policies, and new developments, ensuring compliance and undergoing relevant training.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to provide coordinated services and formulate policies
  • Assist with promotional, educational activities, and ongoing studies to improve Porth Health Service Performance

The ideal candidate:

  • EHORB Certificate
  • Strong knowledge of Environmental Health legislation and best practices to ensure compliance with statutory duties.
  • Experience of Porth Health work is preferable - some training will be given
  • Experience with the formal enforcement actions, including prosecutions, adhering to council policies
  • Excellent customer care skills, handling complex issues to deliver positive experiences
  • Team player with proven ability to support and contribute to team objectives
  • Strong organisational skills, capable of prioritising workloads and meeting deadline.
  • Effective communicator, able to influence and persuade at all levels, both verbally and in writing
