Tree Safety & Conservation Manager
Location: Kent, full onsite presence

An opportunity has arisen with one of our Kent based clients for an experienced tree and conservation management professional to lead the implementation of Thanet’s biodiversity improvements. The planting of the first of the six min-woodlands across Thanet has began across Thanet, but there is plenty more to do.
Key responsibilities of the Tree Safety and Conservation Manager include:
- Carry out comprehensive tree safety inspections using the tree surveying app on TDC land including parks and open spaces, car parks, housing and estates land; providing written reports of defects, risk rating and prioritisation of identified works
- Submission of TPO/Conservation Area tree work applications and liaise with TDC’s planning department to legally undertake required tree management works
- Safe management of the in-house tree team to undertake tree management works in a timely manner against agreed prioritisation targets
- Respond to and investigate tree related accidents/incidents, undertaking a full investigation in liaison with the H&S team, responding to HSE enquiries
- Manage and support the tree and biodiversity coordinator to ensure a planned programme of tree replacement; tree/hedge planting as funding allows
- Work closely with TDC Councillors, other TDC departments, and Thanet residents to ensure an efficient tree management approach on all TDC land
Essential experience for the Tree Safety and Conservation Manager are:
- Experience in managing the delivery of tree management operations through the in-house team and contractor
- Previous arboriculture, woodland management and habit management, particularly in public open spaces
- Background in dealing with stakeholders such as members of the public and councillors
