About the Role

Our client is a leading manufacturer in East Kent. They are looking for a Design Engineer to work on:

  • New Product Development
  • Application and Legacy Product Engineering
  • Innovate to Value Process

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in researching, designing, and optimising products to ensure functionality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. Working cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Marketing, and Quality teams, you will ensure seamless product development from concept to production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Product Research & Evaluation: Assess and enhance existing products, conduct benchmarking, and explore new technologies.
  • Design & Engineering: Create new designs and improve existing ones, producing detailed layouts, assemblies, and bills of material.
  • Customer-Focused Engineering: Develop project timelines, cost analyses, and select materials and components.
  • Testing & Quality Assurance: Define and oversee product testing, working closely with QA to meet ISO and global quality standards.
  • Manufacturing Support: Assist in resolving production challenges, ensuring a smooth transition from prototype to final product.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) or equivalent international degree. A Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in engineering industrial products.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate across departments, including Procurement, Manufacturing, Sales, and Marketing.
  • Proficiency in computer-aided engineering tools and analytical methods.
  • Knowledge of ISO standards and other global quality guidelines.
