About the Role:

Join a dynamic team where your expertise in mechanical and electrical maintenance will directly impact the quality and reliability of critical services. We’re seeking a skilled Mechanical & Electrical Technician with strong knowledge in both disciplines to provide essential maintenance, compliance, and reactive repair services across various healthcare environments.

You’ll play a key role in ensuring that systems operate safely and efficiently, maintaining high standards of safety and service quality in a fast-paced setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance and repairs on systems including boilers, HVAC, medical gas, and fire alarms
  • Work autonomously to diagnose issues, implement repairs, and perform full-service shutdowns as necessary
  • Use the Technical Solutions CAFM system to manage and report on job progress
  • Prioritise patient needs, ensuring that maintenance activities are efficient and minimally disruptive
  • Work within a rotating shift and on-call schedule to ensure 24/7 service availability

Daily Activities Include:

  • Confined Spaces: Access and perform maintenance in enclosed areas like lofts, plant rooms, and flues
  • Driving: Operate Trust vehicles for work purposes, including transporting patients or materials between sites
  • Exposure to Substances Hazardous to Health: Follow risk-assessed safety protocols when handling materials like latex gloves, formalin, and PMMA
  • Hand Arm Vibration Exposure: Use handheld tools (eg, drills, saws) in various maintenance and repair tasks
  • Hand Washing: Regular hand washing as part of daily routines to maintain a sterile environment
  • Lone Working: Operate independently in remote or confined areas without close supervision
  • Manual Handling: Safely manage tasks involving physical handling of equipment or materials
  • Night Working: Availability for night shifts (typically 11 pm-6 am) to support the 24/7 operation
  • Noise Exposure: Work in noise-intensive environments where ear protection is required
  • Work at Heights: Perform tasks on ladders, scaffolds, or elevated platforms, following safety protocols

What We’re Looking For:

  • Qualifications: Relevant certification in mechanical or electrical disciplines (City & Guilds, BTEC, or similar)
  • Experience: Proven track record in mechanical and electrical systems, ideally with hospital or healthcare sector experience
  • Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, technical acumen, and a proactive approach to safety
  • Additional Requirements: Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to various sites as needed
