Role Summary:

You will be responsible for overseeing the daily production operations, ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. This role requires hands-on leadership to manage, support, and motivate a team of production operatives to achieve production targets, maintain hygiene standards, and adhere to company policies.

Key responsibilities within your new role would be to:

  • Team lead a team of up to 16 to ensure production schedules are achieved.
  • Support shift supervisor and to enable the safe and efficient production of products.
  • Ensure Health and Safety procedures and policies are followed.
  • Deputise in the absence of the shift supervisor.
  • Ensure near misses and accidents are reported.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimise production processes.
  • Conduct spot checks on all process from mixing to packing finished product.
  • Complete relevant H&S paperwork i.e. MHE pre use checks.
  • Attend regular meetings.
  • Process and complete documentation for the safe production of products and full traceability.
  • Raise any issues following the appropriate reporting process.
  • Set clear performance goals and provide feedback to support individual and team development.
  • Oversee the daily production schedule, monitor workflow, and coordinate resources.
  • Ensure products meet company quality standards by conducting regular quality checks.
  • Monitor and manage stock levels of materials, packaging, and other supplies.
  • Prepare shift reports and communicate effectively with other departments.
  • Ensure the production area is always audit ready.
  • Carry out performance reviews at the set frequency for team members.
  • Identify talent within the production target and feedback to line manager.
  • Raise disciplinary issues with line manager.
  • Feedback to team members i.e. action/follow up from near miss reports.
  • Raise any well being concerns with line manager / HR.
  • Plan resource around break times to ensure continuous production.
  • Raise training requirement for team and self to line manager.
  • Provide feedback on current performance and report issues where relevant.
  • Raise machine breakdowns and defects following the correct procedure.
  • Any other reasonable request from line manager or senior manager.

Experience and skills required for this position:

  • Previous experience as a team leader/supervisor in a food production environment.
  • Understanding of food safety, quality standards, HACCP, and health and safety regulations.
  • Good communication.
  • Strong leadership.
  • The ability to problem solve.
  • The ability to motivate a team.
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks.
