Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality, person-centred care and companionship to an individual with complex needs.
- Support the individual in managing daily routines, encouraging positive behaviour and emotional well-being.
- Assist in managing and responding to behaviours associated with Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) and self-harm tendencies.
- Promote a safe and supportive environment, actively preventing self-harm through de-escalation and crisis intervention strategies.
- Foster a trusting relationship and provide emotional support to reduce anxiety and isolation.
- Collaborate with family members and healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care is provided.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 1 year experience in a similar complex care role.
- Ability to manage challenging behaviors with empathy and patience.
- Experience in working with individuals who have self-harming tendencies or mental health challenges.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal, with a calm, reassuring demeanor.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and crisis management procedures.
- A genuine passion for helping others and making a positive difference in their lives.
Desirable:
- Training or experience with Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA).
- First Aid, Mental Health, or relevant care certifications.
