Quality Assurance Technician
- Annual Salary: £26,000 - £29,500 (DOE)
- Location: Market Drayton, Shropshire
- Job Type: Full-time, Flexible Hours (Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, covering varied shifts as required)
Join one of the UK's leading gingerbread manufacturers as a Quality Assurance Technician. In this role, you will work closely with management to ensure that food standards are consistently met and strive to continuously improve the site's food safety and quality culture.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Conduct on-line quality checks, daily QAS checks, and Taste Panels, ensuring all raw materials and finished products meet specifications.
- Review and update the supplier database regularly.
- Ensure compliance with all processes and procedures across the site, challenging non-conforming practices where identified.
- Carry out scheduled audits, including GMP, Plastic and Glass, and process audits, ensuring correct CCP compliance, traceability, and product integrity.
- Manage lab sampling, including taking required samples and sending them for analysis. Review results with the Operations Manager and take necessary actions.
- Perform CCP verification and validation, scale checks, and monitor temperatures of refrigerators to ensure all checks are timely and within range.
- Oversee the monitoring of weighing and mixing processes, quality checks on icing production, and visual auditing for decorating quality.
- Manage non-conforming items, including generating non-conformance reports and escalating issues for prompt resolution.
- Deliver Food Safety Training as required and maintain customer specifications and technical request information.
- Handle any other ad-hoc duties that may arise.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience in a technical food production or bakery environment.
- HACCP qualification (ideally level 3).
- Food Hygiene qualification.
- Experience in Audit training with a certification preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong numeracy and literacy skills.
- Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail.
- IT literacy, proficient in Microsoft Office packages.
- Ability to work confidentially, meet targets and deadlines, and communicate issues effectively.
- Team player who is also capable of working independently.
- Willingness to undertake further training to support the role.
