Production Team Leader

  • Annual Salary: £31,000 - £33,000 (DOE)
  • Location: Market Drayton, Shropshire
  • Job Type: Full-time, Permanent (Monday to Friday, 39 hours per week, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM)

Join one of the UK's leading gingerbread manufacturers as a Team Leader. Reporting to the Production Manager, you will manage the day-to-day production operations in your designated area and team, ensuring operational targets are met and standards relating to food safety, health and safety, and quality are maintained.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Lead and motivate a team of production operatives to achieve targets, fostering a culture of efficiency and compliance with company values.
  • Manage shift efficiency of production lines, ensuring adherence to production plans and set KPIs.
  • Control costs effectively, including waste, labour costs, and material usage.
  • Ensure compliance with food quality, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Oversee the quality of all products in line with the ISO 9001 Quality System.
  • Handle HR/people matters in conjunction with the HR/Production Manager, including disciplinary and grievance cases, absence reviews, and return to work interviews.
  • Support staff induction, training, appraisals, and development reviews, and plan for succession within the teams.
  • Ensure consistent implementation of new policies, procedures, and company initiatives.
  • Promote innovative solutions to maximise efficiency and foster a continuous improvement approach.
  • Participate in ad-hoc projects as required by the business.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience in a team leader or managerial role within the manufacturing industry, ideally in food manufacturing.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop relationships and effectively communicate with both management and staff.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong numerical and organisational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Office packages; training will be provided for MRP platforms.
  • Leadership/Management training or qualifications are desirable.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to undertake further training to support the position.
