They are a mainstream, co-educational secondary school catering for both boys and girls aged between 11 and 16. Role Overview: As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with an individual student in Key Stage 4. Your role will involve providing tailored support to meet their specific needs across a variety of subject areas. This student is a wheelchair user and personal care would be required as a part of this role . You will collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to create a positive and inclusive learning experience for all.Responsibilities:

  • Individual Support: Provide personalized support to students with physical needs, ensuring their well-being and engagement in learning.
  • Behaviour Management: Implement effective behaviour management strategies to promote positive behaviour and minimize disruptions.
  • Academic Assistance: Assist students in accessing the curriculum, adapting materials as needed.
  • Emotional Support: Build strong relationships with students, offering emotional support and encouragement.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other staff to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
  • Personal Care: You will be required to conduct personal care with a specific student so it is vital you have experience in this and feel comfortable doing it.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Previous experience working with children with SEMH needs is essential.
  • Qualifications: A relevant teaching assistant qualification or equivalent.
  • Behaviour Management Skills: Ability to de-escalate challenging situations and implement effective strategies.
  • Empathy: A compassionate and patient approach to supporting students.
  • Flexibility: Adaptability to meet the diverse needs of individual students.
  • Team Player: Willingness to collaborate and contribute to a positive school community.
  • Personal Care: It is essential you have experience in carrying out personal care.
