About the school:
This is an independent school that provides education to social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs students aged 11-18. This school offers personalised learning based on each student's Educational Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and helps them build essential life skills for success both in school and beyond.
About the role:
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will play a key role in helping students manage their emotions and behaviour to succeed both academically and personally. Working closely with teachers and pastoral staff, you will offer guidance, promote positive behaviour, and ensure that students feel supported in their journey towards growth and achievement.
Responsibilities of the Behaviour Mentor:
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with behavioural needs.
- Help manage challenging behaviour, implementing effective strategies to promote positive behaviour.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and support staff to create a positive, nurturing environment.
- Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to staff and parents.
- Support classroom management and encourage positive behaviour throughout the school day.
Requirements of the Behaviour Mentor:
- Prior experience working in an SEN setting is preferable.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to manage challenging behaviours effectively.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and build relationships with students.
- Patience, empathy, and resilience in supporting students with complex needs.
- A sound understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
