Bennett and Game are working with a well established a UK-based logistics and distribution company that provides a range of services, including parcel delivery, freight transportation, and supply chain management. They are looking to add a Transport Planner based in Coalville.



Transport Planner Job Overview





  • Planning a varied customer base ranging from day 1 - 2 planning operation up to day 1- 4. Customers range from Production customers, Packaging customers, Retail customer, etc.
  • As much info shared with planners as possible to improve knowledge and help influence decisions to create a successful plan for all key stakeholders.
  • Financial performance for area of responsibility shared weekly.
  • Specific targets set to the planners which are supported throughout the business to achieve and reported on. Targets are continuously monitored throughout the week and trends discussed and reported.
  • Planners have control on decision making when it comes to runs planned, loads subbed, reloads, etc.
  • Support within the planning centre by a large team of planners and lead planners that work together to resolve all issues and any hot spots.
  • No 2 days are the same and no bus route planning.
  • Manual planning and load building using our TMS system


Transport Planner Job Requirements





  • Must be both proactive and reactive in approach.
  • Regular structured updates form customers lead to plan changes throughout the day that we have to react to and work within the team and wider network to resolve.
  • Excellent decision-making skills, planners are given the control of their area of responsibility to sub contract loads and negotiate rates, reload vehicles using our internal network or customer network, plan own fleet to set targets.
  • Knowledge of a 3PL operation
  • Ability to use multiple TMS systems and customer systems.
  • Ability to work well within a team, each plan delivered is a team effort as everyone works together to resolve all issues and support where support is needed






Transport Planner Salary & Benefits

  • Hours 08:30 - 18:30 (47.5 hours, 30-minute unpaid break) - worth noting though if job is done under shift hours and everything set up and team supported planners will finish early.
  • Salary - £36,950
  • 33 Days holiday (25 bookable plus 8 BH, or 33 bookable)
