We are looking for committed individuals who are willing to work as Teaching Assistants in an exciting new special school in Martock. This work is available 2 to 5 days a week and the hours are 8:30-15:30. No training is required, as you will learn 'on the job'. The children identified have a variety of SEND needs, mostly Autism. Some also have challenging behaviour. We can provide some training, but initiative and resilience are key skills needed for this type of work. The school is looking for people passionate about learning about children with SEND and adding value to the fantastic school culture.

Working closely with teaching staff, you will support the pupil during the day with their lessons, and also in their interactions with their peers. You would be using Autism Teaching Techniques such as "Now and Next". This work is one-to-one, working with one identified pupil. However, at times, there will be a need for you to work with a small group of children; for example to help with reading.

If you have worked in a care setting, security, probation or social services, you may have key transferable skills.

Responsibilities and duties:
· Supporting 1:1 in class
· Help the students to access the curriculum and tailor the lesson activity to their level of ability
· Build a strong relationship with the pupils and teaching staff to ensure that the pupils are achieving their potential
· Be a support to the students when they are struggling, and help them to calm down and remain focussed

The pay rate is £12.81* an hour. The day is 7 hours including an unpaid 30 min lunch break. Your daily rate of pay would be £83.29* but with a potential to earn more based on level of experience. *Including holiday pay

Essential criteria:
- Previous experience working with individuals with SEN/Autism/Complex Needs/SEMH is desirable
- Have a right to work in the UK (A Valid Visa, please note we cannot accept sponsorship visas)
- Relevant DBS/ Police checks if necessary

Pay: Five Education operates a PAYE payroll; this is the most transparent way to be paid with no hidden fees such as admin fee or employer's NI. Please note pay rate is for illustration and does include holiday pay.
