Job Title: Mechanical Estimator
Location: Derbyshire
Salary: £45,000 - £65,000
Hours of Work: Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm
Type: Full Time Permanent
Start Date: Immediately (flexible for notice periods)
Duties
- Ability to use Excel is a must as our Estimating package is centred around an in-house developed Excel system although other software packages may be considered moving forwards.
- Send out enquiries to suppliers & subcontractors to assist with pricing.
- Send out TQ’s to Main Contractors / Clients and monitor responses for incorporation into tenders where ambiguities fall between the drawings and specifications provided.
- Take off services from drawings and provided equipment schedules where predesigned and send out to the marketplace for pricing.
- Provide tender logs and follow up via the Main Contractors & End User Clients for feedback on status and report to senior management on a regular basis as required.
- Some front end survey work would occasionally be required to facilitate initial costings.
- A knowledge / understanding of SBEM, Thermal Models, SAP, BRUKL and BREEAM targets to facilitate pulling tenders together is a pre-requisite however not the actual software use.
- Clear, precise and articulate Tender letter & Contractors Proposal writing is a must complete with clear & unambiguous qualifications.
- Internal meetings with the Company Directors for commercial settlement of bids would be required to review scope and commercial aspects prior to tender submission
- The successful candidate should have good commercial awareness, be able to satisfy a tender brief however at the same time be able to offer innovation and some added Value Engineering options in order to provide some betterment to our tenders over our competitors.
- The successful candidate would be required to attend both mid-tender and post tender client meetings to review scope and costings and occasionally be part of more formal tender presentations (as part of a WB Team)
Skills and experience
- BTEC Building Services HNC
- Minimum 5 GCSE passes - Maths A is required
- Estimating Software Training
- Experience in a similar estimating role
