We are currently working with a Council in the East Midlands who are seeking an Environmental Coordinator to lead the environmental management function, ensuring continued ISO14001 certification and driving sustainability improvements across the organisation.Environmental CoordinatorStart Date: ASAP Duration: 9 Month FTC or Interim Rate: £38,000-£40,000 per annum or please advise on daily rate on interim basis (Inside IR35)Hybrid Working Arrangement: 1 day a week onsite 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate ISO14001 certification, including internal audits, process oversight, and resolving non-conformities
  • Act as a technical lead in driving environmental performance improvements across Council operations
  • Work closely with the Corporate Environmental Sustainability Group to integrate sustainability into strategic and operational decision-making
  • Provide expert advice to senior leadership on accreditation progress and regulatory compliance
  • Support the development and delivery of the Council’s Climate and Environment Action Plan, ensuring meaningful and measurable progress

Requirements:

  • Degree-qualified in Environmental Science or a related discipline
  • Strong experience with ISO14001 or similar environmental management systems
  • Knowledge of UK environmental law and regulatory compliance
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and influencing skills
  • Ability to travel across Swadlincote & South Derbyshire – Driving license & own vehicle required
