Pre Heat Machinist

Elevation Recruitment Group is pleased to be working with a forging business near Matlock to recruit a Pre-Heat Machinist. This role involves working with materials from the Forge department, machining forgings according to specified drawings, operating CNC and manual machines, and coordinating with the Heat Treatment department.Pre-Heat MachinistLocation: MatlockSalary: £36,500Hours: 40 hours per weekShift Pattern: 2-week rota:

• Week 1: Monday to Friday, 06:00–14:00
• Week 2: Monday to Thursday, 14:00–Midnight

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate both manual and CNC machines.
• Machine parts to meet technical drawings and specifications.
• Communicate with the Forge and Heat Treatment departments to plan workload.
• Use measuring equipment such as micrometers, verniers, wall thickness meters, and surface roughness gauges.
• Ensure Health & Safety compliance and conduct pre-shift H&S checks.
• Maintain high standards of workplace housekeeping.
• Follow quality procedures and processes.
• Plan work to optimise machine utilisation.
• Book out work and time against specific jobs.
• Manage material movements.
• Cross-train in other front-end positions as required.
• Carry out additional ad-hoc duties.
• Provide flexibility across pre-heat and radius cells to meet customer needs.

Requirements:

• CNC Turning experience.
• Ability to machine to tolerances of +/- 0.05mm.
• Understanding of Fanuc controls.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Competent basic IT skills.
• Apprentice trained (desirable).
• Experience with manual milling/turning (desirable).
• Overhead Crane, FLT, and Abrasive Wheel training (desirable).
• Team player with the ability to work independently.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
