  • Plan and develops lessons, including the development of schemes of work
  • Develop and implement learner-centred assessment methods, with focus on constructive and development feedback for our students
  • Encourage, monitor and report on the attendance, progress and achievements of students
  • Ensure safe working environments for students and colleagues, enforce health and safety standard in your area, ensuring all students understand and comply
  • Undertake personal coaching and pastoral responsibilities for designated students in order to support them in their own development and future progression
  • Keep abreast of industry developments in your specialist area to ensure the relevance and continued employability of our students
  • Actively participate in continuing professional development around theory and practice within the education sector

Skills & experience

  • Have a level 5 Subject Specialism as a minimum in maths or equivalent
  • Hold a recognised teaching qualification
  • Have recent, relevant and successful experience of teaching functional skills and GCSE maths to learners from Entry Level to Level 2, preferably within a Further Education collages
  • Evidence of recent teaching and assessment in delivering functional skills maths programmes, with a proven track record of successful delivery within English or maths.
  • Be prepared to become a member of the Institute for Learning and undertake CPD activities as required.
  • Ability to deliver excellent teaching, learning and assessment pedagogic practice & share good practice
  • Be able to deliver a variety of pedagogic strategies to suit a variety of learning styles
  • Have the ability and interest to contribute to learner enrichment activities
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and team development skills and have the ability to contribute to the team and its goals. Be able to support colleagues within the team
