Human Factors Consultant

About the Role

Our client, an independent safety and risk management consultancy, is seeking a Human Factors Consultant at a senior or principal level to support the delivery and growth of their Human Factors services. The role offers flexible working options to support a healthy work-life balance and involves working on nationally and internationally significant projects across a range of industries.

You will have the opportunity to collaborate with an experienced team, contribute to exciting projects in high-hazard industries, and develop innovative solutions to mitigate safety risks.

Responsibilities
  • Provide Human Factors Integration (HFI) and Human Factors Engineering (HFE) support for design and engineering projects.
  • Conduct HMI design and assessment, anthropometric assessments, and user trials.
  • Support safety case claims and conduct quantitative human reliability and error analyses.
  • Deliver training and develop Safety Culture and Competence Management strategies.
  • Engage with clients, prepare reports, and deliver presentations.
  • Contribute to business growth by supporting strategy development, growing the client base, and leading projects.
Requirements

Essential:

  • Degree (BEng, BSc, or MSc) in Human Factors, Ergonomics, or a related discipline.
  • Chartered Ergonomist & Human Factors Specialist (C.ErgHF) or working towards CIEHF Chartered status.
  • Minimum of 5 years' applied Human Factors experience, including at least 2 years in the nuclear sector.
  • Strong report writing and presentation skills.
  • Flexibility to travel internationally.
  • Eligible for UK security clearance.

Desirable:

  • Experience in high-hazard industries such as nuclear, oil and gas, or defence.
  • Consultancy experience, including proposal writing and independent project management.
  • Familiarity with stakeholder management across diverse industries.
