Psychologist (LD Forensic Setting)
We are looking for a qualified and experienced Psychologist to work with our male patients (Flexible working considered along with part-time) . As part of your role, you will be responsible for providing high quality clinical assessments. You will support with the delivery of a full ward programme which will include facilitating groups and managing a case load of patient for individual therapy sessions. You will use a range of psychological therapies including dialectical behavioural therapy. You will be involved in Risk Assessments and Management. Delivering full programme for groups and individuals for therapy primarily using DBT/CBT, Risk Assessments and Management. There will be emphasis on providing comprehensive and specialist assessments, intervention packages to patients to help them develop resilience, make sense of past life events, improve attachment to relationships, make sense of emotional , behavioural and developmental difficulties that can result from experience of abuse, neglect, maltreatment and/or adversity. You will have the opportunity to work creatively and flexibly to develop and implement innovative practice and service developments as well as working from established evidence base. You will be supported by an Assistant Psychologist and you will be responsible for their clinical supervision.
The setting is a 12 bedded low secure unit for adults with Mental Health & Learning Difficulties. We also have a bespoke Pod for 1 person.
Role requirements:
Qualified Psychologist with an interest in learning disability / mental health forensic services.
Strong focus on service development, service evaluation, providing psychological consultation, expert opinion, cascading psychological thinking, developing and delivering teaching, training and group work
Flexible to work weekends and bank holidays.
To provide clinical, professional and managerial leadership to the MDT team and ward.
To be responsible for the day-to-day psychological support.
To ensure a high standard of evidence-based psychology care is consistently delivered to patients.
To ensure that a safe, cost effective service is provided.
To act as a role model and patient advocate, ensuring a positive patient experience for all.
To be responsible for Information Governance standards.
Promote good relationships with patient, relatives, public, other care organisations and all members of the multidisciplinary care team.
To ensure audit compliance (CQC).
To carry out clinical supervision to Assistant Psychologist.
Promote good communication skills written and verbally.
ADOS & WAIS IV experience / assessor desirable
