SEND Tribunals Officer

Are you passionate about ensuring children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) receive the right support at the right time? Our client is seeking a skilled SEND Tribunals Officer to work closely with families, resolving disputes, and delivering positive outcomes.

In this vital role, you will engage with families and young people through mediation, resolution meetings, and other forums, addressing their concerns and negotiating constructive solutions. Working collaboratively with parents, schools, and other stakeholders, you will represent the Local Authority at SEND Tribunals, prepare detailed cases and evidence, and coordinate mediation processes to resolve disputes at the earliest opportunity. Your expertise will also contribute to improving processes and reducing the need for formal legal action.

While knowledge of SEND legal frameworks and compliance is integral, the emphasis is on your ability to build relationships, manage challenging situations, and remain reflective and person-centered in your approach. Whether you come from an education background or another relevant field, your conflict resolution skills, coupled with your passion for ensuring children and young people achieve positive outcomes, are what matters most.

You will take responsibility for preparing and presenting cases, defending service provisions, and ensuring that all documentation is accurate, timely, and compliant. Additionally, you will engage with families, caseworkers, and schools to develop collaborative solutions, ensuring transparency and clarity throughout the SEND process. By working proactively to mediate and resolve disputes early, you will help reduce tribunal numbers and ensure families feel heard and supported.

This role is suited to someone with experience in managing compliance frameworks, handling disputes, and negotiating resolutions, along with the ability to see opportunities for improvement through appeals and complaints. Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills are essential, as is a commitment to co-production and partnership working.

If you are ready to make a meaningful impact by improving outcomes for children, young people, and their families, we encourage you to apply. Full training and development opportunities will be provided for the right candidate.
