Empowering Learning are working alongside a school in the Long Eaton (NG10) area who are looking to add an SEN Teaching Assistant to their team to begin September 2024.

The school is currently graded as 'Good' by OFSTED and has an excellent leadership team within the school. The school also has fantastic facilities and well kept grounds.

The main duties within the role will be:

  • Supporting children in year 4 and year 1 who present with autism, SEMH and ADHD
  • Providing a tailored curriculum to help engage the children within the class
  • Working on a 1:1 basis to help children engage within lessons
  • Liaising with the class teacher and school SENCO around progress of the pupils
  • Supporting the classroom teacher with the preparation of lessons
  • Leading small academic interventions with children working below age expected levels
  • Using the school's behaviour and reward policies to help engage the children

The school are looking for someone who:

  • Has previous experience working with special needs
  • Is able to build relationships with children who struggle to engage
  • Is an effective communicator
  • Can manage the behaviour of children
  • Has a good sense of humour (It helps!)
