JB377: Line LeaderSalary: CompetitiveLocation: MelkshamOverview:First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Line Leader on behalf of one of our clients.Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel however all candidates will be given due consideration.Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor output to production requirements in their cell on a day-to-day basis and raise any concerns.
  • Track productivity, quality and inventory trends over time and implement improvements.
  • Performance manage staff within their line that are not performing to required standards.
  • Manage all staff within their cell, including logging holidays and sickness and completing return to work interviews.
  • Assign labour to workstations, ensuring operators are trained on their given station.
  • Complete stage 1 disciplinary investigations and warnings.
  • Support value streams to improve and fix systemic process issues.
  • Ensure all operators are trained on their assigned processes and are following the standard operating procedure (SOP).
  • Compliance with health and safety policies.
  • Complete 1:1’s with employees on a twice-yearly basis, identify high potential people and support with their development plans.
  • To manage training records and skills matrices, identifying gaps and planning / implementing a training and development plan.
  • To be responsible for SOP documentation ensuring amendments are made in line with change control procedures and audit as necessary.
  • Assist in the planning of and support of trials and sampling.
  • To make all operators aware of company procedures and escalate as necessary to ensure it is dealt with promptly by the relevant Engineering / Technical department.
  • To maintain the highest level of housekeeping, leading 5S teams to deliver actions and goals as identified from housekeeping audits and the Site Leadership Team.
  • Request overtime within area when required, organise with staff.
  • Create a culture of continuous improvement and a team that adopts change.
  • Cover Team absence – step up for Tier 2 on occasion in Production Leader absence.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Good verbal and written communication.
  • Able to use Microsoft office suite at a basic level.
  • Experience working with MRP systems.
  • Lean manufacturing philosophy understanding.
  • A positive attitude towards change.
  • Understanding of manufacturing operations within area.
  • Ability to solve problems.
  • Able to make difficult decisions in a fast-moving environment.
  • Good team player who can motivate and deal with conflict in an appropriate and professional manner.
