JB328 - Design EngineerLocation: MelkshamSalary: £30,000Overview:First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Design Engineer on behalf of one of our clients.Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel however all candidates will be given due consideration.Duties and Responsibilities

  • Generation of innovative, robust, and capable product and components designs from the perspective of ‘cradle to grave’.
  • Design verification and validation through analytical and physical test methods
  • Creation and delivery of presentations for the communication of concepts, progress, and milestones to internal and external stakeholders.
  • To work with the Senior Design Engineer to ensure technical solutions meet the Critical to Success expectations of the business and the continued growth of the brand.
  • To liaise with Product Management to define and record technical requirements at the project outset, record requirement changes, and measure performance against during the development process.
  • To further support Product Management in extrapolation of user feedback and customer trials.
  • Preparation and maintenance of development documentation to ISO9001 throughout the design process in accordance with, and for review via the GAINS development process.
  • Generate prototypes, test plans, and test procedures; ensuring all findings are properly recorded.
  • Maintain a high standard of communication with members of other teams, functional managers, customers, approval bodies, independent testing facilities and suppliers to pursue project objectives, contributing to cross-functional meetings in the facilitation of this.
  • To prepare drawings, tolerance stack-ups, SPC capability data and ISIR reports, organise reviews, document releases, and suggest resulting mitigative actions.
  • To increase personal skills in mechanical engineering and techniques, materials engineering, problem analysis techniques, benchmarking, FMEAs, 6sigma and CAD
  • To increase personal understanding of appropriate regulatory standards, consumer trends within the market, contemporary respirator technology and applicable technologies.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience in new product development within respiratory protection or a related field.
  • A flair for innovation, able to demonstrate enthusiasm, flexibility, and the ability to learn new skills quickly.
  • Hands on practical experience in model making and product testing.
  • Experienced in SolidWorks CAD Suite.
  • Working knowledge of PC based word processing and spread sheets.
  • Ability to work in a structured and controlled manner under pressure.
  • Self-starter and self-managed
  • Positive “can do “attitude and an eye for detail.
