Long Term Futures is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a supportive educational environment. The position is in a specialist school, for pupils aged between 5-16, with all pupils having complex SEMH (social, emotional and mental health) needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the planning and delivery of engaging learning activities.
  • Support both individual students and small groups, supporting their academic and personal development.
  • Prepare the classroom for lessons and ensure a positive learning environment.
  • Monitor and report on students' progress to the teacher or designated staff member.
  • Provide targeted support to children with specific educational needs, ensuring their individual development plans are followed.
  • Promote self-confidence, independence and social interaction among students.
  • Supervise children during break and lunch periods.
  • Uphold school policies regarding child protection, behaviour management and equal opportunities.

What We're Looking For:

  • A compassionate and patient individual with a passion for education.
  • Experience working with children with additional needs is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • An individual with the ability to manage challenging behaviours effectively.
