A manufacturing business near Merthyr Tydfil are recruiting for an experienced Assistant Accountant on a permanent basis. The company manufactures a range of specialist products with defined areas of specialism and has an international customer base.
The Assistant Accountant will join an experienced and high performing team, working with a variety of colleagues with a broad remit. The primary function of the role is to provide support to the finance team which includes everything from Management Accounts preparation to Accounts Payable ownership.
Assistant Accountant duties
- Preparation of Management Accounts, including reviewing overheads and conducting cost centre reviews, posting accruals and prepayments and preparing balance sheet reconciliations.
- Financial analysis of sales, gross margins and overheads as well as reporting on variances.
- Responsible for Accounts Payable; checking and processing supplier invoices, maintaining and updating ledger, preparing supplier payment runs, reviewing GRNI account.
- Liaising with external partners and providing data and reports to support timely Tax submission of external returns, for example VAT.
- Supporting the coordination of stock take.
- Provide support to colleagues in the Finance team and project work with Financial Controller.
Assistant Accountant person specification
- Demonstrable experience in a similar role.
- Excellent IT ability, specifically Microsoft Excel.
- A relationship builder, with excellent communication skills.
- Naturally curious and unafraid to ask questions.
