We are seeking an experienced and dedicated English Teacher to teach both English Language and English Literature, following the UK Curriculum and relevant exam boards. This position is based in Merton, with immediate start dates and long-term or permanent placements available.



What We're Looking For

  • Essential Qualifications (Non-Negotiable):
    • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status).
    • Applicants with QTLS or a PGCE may also be considered.
    • Applications without these qualifications will not be considered.
  • Desirable Experience:
    • Experience teaching students with SEMH or SEN needs.
    • A genuine passion for supporting SEMH students and their unique educational journeys.
  • Candidates must have a clear DBS or be willing to obtain one.
  • Sponsorships are not applicable for this role.


Job Roles & Expectations

As an English Teacher in this SEMH school, you will be responsible for:

  • Teaching & Curriculum Delivery:
    • Deliver engaging lessons in both English Language and English Literature aligned with the UK Curriculum and exam board specifications.
    • Adapt lessons to meet the diverse needs and abilities of students.
  • Planning & Marking:
    • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality lessons.
    • Assess student work and provide constructive feedback to support progress.
  • Classroom Management:
    • Manage small class sizes effectively, supported by at least one dedicated Teaching Assistant.
    • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages learning and emotional well-being.
  • Individualised Support:
    • Develop and implement strategies to support students with SEMH needs, ensuring all learners achieve their potential.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with colleagues, parents, and external professionals to create tailored educational plans.
  • Professional Duties:
    • Perform all duties equivalent to a permanent, full-time teacher.
