Elevation Recruitments Skilled Shop Floor Team are proud to be working with a large tool manufacturing business in Rotherham, South Yorkshire. The facility is facing continued growth, and they are currently looking for individuals with experience as a Machine Setter/Operator.

The successful candidate will be responsible for various machines within the manufacturing cells, including changeovers, machine condition and setting and working safely and maintaining quality.

Machine Setter/Operator  

Contract type: 12 Week Temp to Perm

Working hours:

3 shifts rotating weekly

Monday – Thursday 6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm, 10pm-6am

Friday 6am-1.30pm, 1.30pm – 9pm, 9pm-4.30am

Overtime available but not guaranteed

Overview of the role of a Stores Person:

Role Duties:

  • Responsible for all aspects of setting, condition setting for jobs and condition alteration to remedy quality issues.
  • Expected to work on own initiative and use own judgment in absence of technician. Always compliant with RA/SOPs/work standards etc associating with each process
  • Responsible for maintaining department KPI’s (5s, scrap reduction, inventory, safety and productivity) to factory set targets for the department with increased responsibility for designated equipment.
  • Responsible for daily/weekly asset care checks on all machinery and recording for maintenance records.
  • Completion of all relevant safety and quality checks throughout the process accordance with Quality standards
  • Manufacture a range of products / parts to the required standard, ready for use by other departments or third-party affiliates.
  • Ensuring all work produced is to the required standard by hourly visual inspection, accurately recording of scrap generated.
  • Assist in the maintenance of department tooling and equipment, identify and where possible remedy minor repairs to machinery.
  • Carry out all duties necessary to achieve department goals, production targets and forecasts.
  • Will be required occasionally to assist the Technicians in other duties.
  • To ensure integrity of production; must have a flexible approach to shift working and overtime, which may include weekend cover during production peaks, colleague holidays and periods of absence.
  • Adhering to site health & safety protocols.
  • To carry out general duties when requested to do so.

Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience of plant operated machines such as grinders, CNC machines, Press machines, heat treatment (essential)
  • Experience using FLT truck, pallet truck, cranes (desirable)
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment (essential)
  • Experience working to production targets
  • Able to stand for long periods of time
  • Experience inspecting own work
