CAD Technician / DraughtspersonRotherhamSalary £32,100This full-time position for a CAD Technician / Draughtsperson involves providing a Drawing Support Service to the Engineering functions within a leading steel manufacturing company.The role is part of the Engineering Services Department, which delivers various engineering support services to the business. In this position, you will collaborate with project/design engineers, plant engineers, and operations managers to create engineering drawings, manage bills of materials (BOMs), maintain engineering databases, inspect engineering components, and provide technical drawings and excellent customer service.The working environment is mainly office-based with regular visits to manufacturing areas.The Role

  • Provide CAD-based drawing support to Department and Plant Engineers.
  • Manage document storage systems, update Autodesk Vault with drawings and manuals.
  • Locate and manage drawings within the archive department, updating records by obsolescing or removing redundant drawings, and cross-referencing with replacements.
  • Offer guidance to other users of AutoCAD and Vault.
  • Facilitate the Site Services Certificate process to identify services and utilities for planning excavations.
  • Contribute to the operations of a unique metals recycling facility, utilizing innovative processes to support environmental sustainability through green energy and recycling.

Requirements

  • The ideal candidate should hold an engineering qualification or have significant experience in engineering drawing, possess an AutoCAD qualification with 5+ years of experience in CAD Drawing and document management (Autodesk Vault or similar).
  • Experience with GTX Raster CAD is advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills, the ability to work well as part of a team, and the capability to manage multiple projects with senior managers and section engineers.
  • Problem-solving and analytical abilities
  • Excellent organizational/time management skills
  • Confidence in developing and delivering training to colleagues
