We are seeking an HR Consultant to join the HR Consultancy team at a local authority in Rotherham. This role requires someone with prior experience in a local authority or council setting. The HR Consultant will provide a high standard of professional HR service, ensuring customer needs are met and maintaining alignment with HR best practices.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Serve as the first point of contact for HR advice and guidance across the four directorates of the Council, ensuring high standards of customer care.
  • Provide casework support linked to all aspects of the employee life cycle including recruitment, capability, disciplinary, grievance, Dignity at Work, redundancy, and retirement.
  • Support organisational change across the Council and with partner organisations.
  • Offer advice on the Council’s policy framework, maternity, paternity, and other types of absence.
  • Provide accurate management information and data analysis to inform workforce planning.
  • Plan and deliver learning events on a range of HR topics.
  • Develop HR policies and procedures.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in a Human Resources Consultancy role within a local authority or council.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of employment legislation.
  • Good IT skills and excellent communication skills.
  • Ideally, possession of or working towards a CIPD qualification.
