Job Title: Legal CounselDepartment: LegalLocation: Mill CloseSalary: £45,000 - £73,000 Reporting to: General Counsel Role Overview:This pivotal Legal Counsel role offers an exciting opportunity for a talented and experienced solicitor to join a leading engineering group. You will be instrumental in supporting the business on its current and future operational transactions, ensuring the delivery of clear, practical legal advice that enables the organisation to remain compliant with relevant laws and regulations across its global operations. Key Responsibilities:1 Contract Review & Negotiation:Lead the review, drafting, and negotiation of key contracts with suppliers, including a range of commercial agreements that are crucial to the business's operations. 2 Legal Precedent Documentation:Maintain and manage the legal precedent documentation to ensure consistency and compliance across all business units. 3 Tender Support & Legal Assistance:Provide expert legal support on tender reviews and various projects, working closely with the Commercial and Finance teams to deliver aligned outcomes. 4 Legal Queries:Act as the first point of contact for legal queries arising in day-to-day operations, offering clear, timely, and commercially sound advice. 5 External Legal Advisors:Instruct and manage external legal counsel as needed to support key business activities. 6 Corporate Transactional Work:Assist in corporate transactional matters, ensuring all legal documentation and processes are accurately managed and aligned with business objectives. Note: The above responsibilities are indicative of the role, but the job holder may be required to undertake additional tasks in line with their expertise. Candidate Profile:Qualifications:* Qualified solicitor with relevant post-qualification experience. Skills & Knowledge:* Strong knowledge of commercial and company law. * Exceptional skills in negotiating and drafting commercial agreements. * Ability to provide commercially driven, pragmatic legal advice. * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the capacity to work both independently and as part of a broader team. * Strong commercial acumen and a collaborative approach to contract negotiation. Experience:* Proven experience managing high-value commercial legal matters and agreements. * Demonstrable experience advising on legal risk in business contracts. * Track record of operating within high-performing legal teams, delivering effective and efficient solutions to complex legal issues. * Experience engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders, both internally and externally.
