Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

Location: RotherhamSalary: £48300Hours: 3 on/3 off Shift Pattern

Are you an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer? Do you thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment? If so, we want you to join our team!

We’re looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to play a vital role in maintaining, repairing, and improving production equipment to the highest standards for one of our clients.

Key ResponsibilitiesMechanical Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and repair high-volume production machinery.
  • Carry out mechanical installations, preventive maintenance, and repairs.
  • Fabricate and work with sheet metal, welding, and brazing.
  • Work on pneumatic systems using schematic drawings.
  • Use precision tools such as micrometers, Verniers, and small hand tools.
  • Interpret and work from detailed machine drawings.
Electrical Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and repair high-volume CNC and PLC-controlled production machinery.
  • Conduct fault finding on various machines, including plastic injection moulding machines, CNC grinders, assembly machines, heat treatment furnaces, and robotic lines.
  • Perform electrical installations and preventive maintenance of plant and equipment.
  • Undertake portable appliance testing and fixed wiring inspections (18th Edition and 2394/2395/2396 qualifications are advantageous).
  • Interpret and work from detailed electrical machine drawings.
What We’re Looking ForSkills and Qualifications:

Mechanical:

  • Apprenticeship-trained mechanical fitter (HNC qualification is an advantage).
  • 5+ years of on-the-job experience.

General Skills:

  • Strong problem-solving skills with a logical and methodical approach.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement.
Working Conditions:
  • PPE to be worn at all times.
  • Adherence to factory Health & Safety regulations.
  • Physical requirements include standing for long periods and lifting equipment.
