Elevation Recruitment Group are recruiting for an exciting opportunity to join a leading manufacturing business based in Rotherham, who are looking to recruit for an experienced Metrology Engineer to join the team.

As the Metrology Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring product compliance with engineering specifications through precise measurement and inspection techniques. You will be responsible for programming and operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and other metrology equipment, collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve quality-related issues, and driving continuous improvement in measurement strategies.

As the Metrology Engineer, you will:

  • Conduct inspections using CMM and other metrology tools to verify compliance with engineering drawings
  • Develop, validate, and maintain CMM programs to ensure accurate measurements
  • Optimize measurement strategies for efficiency and accuracyPerform Gauge R&R studies and analyse engineering drawings, including GD&T specifications
  • Develop and execute measurement control plans, including First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR)
  • Investigate non-conformance issues and customer complaints, providing root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to enhance product manufacturability
  • Interface with customers regarding quality concerns and provide technical resolutions
  • Generate and communicate quality statistics across teams
  • Support the development of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and implement preventive measures
  • Promote quality awareness and enforce customer requirements throughout the business
  • Ensure adherence to company Health & Safety policies

To be considered for the Metrology Engineer role, you will need:

  • A highly motivated approach with excellent attention to detail
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in CMM programming
  • Proficiency in Mitutoyo MCOSMOS and Zeiss Calypso programming
  • Previous experience in an aerospace environment
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T and measurement techniques
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working within a team environment
  • IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications
  • The ability to use your own initiative and manage time effectively
  • Minimum Grade C or above in English and Mathematics at GCSE level or equivalent
