Reed is now supporting Rotherham MBC in their children's residential homes across the borough. This is on a temp basis. 

Job Type: Temporary, Ongoing, Ad-hoc

We need candidates who have experience of working with children with disabilities or looked after children, within residential or similar! 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Child Welfare: Promote, safeguard, and protect the welfare of each child, ensuring the child is the primary focus.
  • Role Model: Present as a positive role model and represent the home and wider department professionally.
  • Child Advocacy: Encourage a child’s choice in daily life, promote self-advocacy, and advocate on behalf of the child.
  • Team Collaboration: Work as a team member to ensure the reception, ongoing care, and discharge of children is undertaken sensitively and caringly. Be responsible for the welfare of children during shifts, including personal and intimate care as required.
  • Key Worker Duties: Undertake the role of key worker for individual children, including administrative tasks and completion of written reports.
  • Care Planning: Assist in planning, implementing, and reviewing individual care programs. Work in partnership with parents/carers and liaise with social work staff, specialists, and other professional agencies to ensure a consistent care package.
  • Daily Operations: Engage in the day-to-day running of the home, including planning and participating in activities, meal provision, personal and intimate care, supporting medication administration in line with the council’s Medication Policy, and completing administrative tasks, including safe handling of cash.
  • Record Keeping: Complete relevant records and reports using both written and electronic communication. This includes Care Plans, Risk Assessments, Daily Records, Financial Documents, Reports for Reviews, and Timesheets.
  • Regulations Knowledge: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of children’s homes regulations and associated policies and procedures.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience in childcare or a related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of children’s homes regulations and policies.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Flexibility to work on an ad-hoc basis.

Additional Information:

  • This role requires a DBS check.
  • Ideally QCF level 3 in health & Care or equivalent
