Reed - Further Education are seeking a Learning Support Assistant to work within the ASL team.

What’s the day-to-day responsibilities of a Learning Support Assistant?

  • You will provide in and out of class support to assist students with learning disabilities / difficulties to help them achieve the best possible outcomes.
  • This will include BSL signing and note taking when required.
  • You will assist in the planning, prep & reviewing of learning in conjunction with the curriculum staff.
  • You will have the personal skills to be able to effectively support students, dealing with challenging behaviour when it arises and helping them to develop their own coping strategies.

What are the required skills and qualifications needed for this role?

  • Level 3 or up in British Sign Language
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviour.
  • Experience interacting with 16–19-year-olds in education or apprentice setting.
  • Experience supporting SEND, ALS or SEMH students or young people.
  • Level 2 or equivalent in English and Maths
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Current Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one through Reed Compliance
