Gi Group Recruitment are now seeking to appoint a SEND Coordinator to our client based in Wath-upon-Dearne. The SEND Coordinator will work collaboratively with learners, their families, schools, colleagues and external agencies to identify and design a support plan for learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities to enable to reach their potential. They will also manage specialist exam arrangements to ensure all appropriate arrangements are made for learners who require them.

Duties of the SEND Coordinator:

  • Carry out specialist exam access arrangement assessments for learners where required; including Wide Range Achievement Testing (WRAT's) in-line with JCQ Regulations.
  • Ensure that Additional Learning Support (ALS) referrals are screened timely and additional learning support appointments are conducted.
  • Identify, assess, and recommend ALS strategies to reduce barriers to learning, considering recommendations from EHCPs, referrals, disclosures and the learner and family's needs and wishes.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure early identification of learners' individual support needs in line with the SEND Code of Practice.
  • Work collaboratively with curriculum teams and wider support departments to ensure the ALS recommendations are deployed and learners are supported as per their ALS plans and EHCP's.

Role Criteria:

  • Experience in supporting students with emotional and behavioural difficulties
  • Experience and understanding of making safeguarding referrals
  • Experience working with young people and vulnerable adults with learning difficulties and/or disabilities
  • A proven ability to plan, prepare and implement support programmes/assessments as and when required
  • A specialist qualification in SEND
  • Minimum Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy
