Reed Finance are working with a Teesside based SME in their search for an experienced Cost Accountant to join the finance department.  Our client is a global leader in the development and production of high-quality solutions for various industries, with a commitment to innovation and sustainability.  In this role you will be responsible for product costing, investigating variances, maintaining standard costs in ERP systems, preparing management accounts, and handling ad hoc projects.

Responsible for meeting business needs by supporting the finance department in cost accounting and the preparation of the company’s management accounts, the ideal candidates should have extensive costing experience, strong ERP knowledge, advanced Excel skills. 

Main Tasks:

  • Preparing management accounts, budgets, and forecasts
  • Providing product costing to commercial and operations teams
  • Investigating sales and production variances
  • Maintaining standard costs in ERP systems
  • Preparing sales analysis
  • Maintaining and reconciling stock systems
  • Developing and maintaining financial systems
  • Providing fixed cost analysis to budget holders
  • Providing timely and accurate information both internally and externally
  • Managing accounts payable team member
  • Handling ad hoc projects

Required Skills:

  • Extensive costing experience (CoGS/BoMS/Std Costing/Works Orders)
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Knowledge of ERP systems
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure, meeting deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Self-driven and motivated to achieve
  • Good attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to investigate discrepancies
  • Credible and confident communication skills both within and outside of the department
  • Good organisational and planning skills
  • Experience in people management desirable
