The redevelopment of Tees Works is the most significant industrial development project in the North East for a generation and is transformational for the region. Steel River Quay Ltd has been contracted to provide quayside and port-based services to Seah Wind and other future tenants associated with the offshore wind sector from the newly constructed quay on the Tees.  Reporting to the Managing Director, the Head of Operations will oversee the daily activities and operational performance of the port facility, ensuring efficient, safe and timely handling of vessels and cargo.  The role involves managing key subcontractors, coordinating activities across the facility, optimising workflows and ensuring contract compliance with both customers and subcontractors. Responsibilities are broad, covering general/operational, commercial, financial and compliance. At a detailed level these will include General/Operational Manage and coordinate all day to day quay activities including subcontractors in accordance with the scopes of work detailed in their respective contracts ensuring commercial and operational compliance. Assume the role of ‘’Relationship Manager” for contractors and quay users, acting as the contract owner. Work closely with the Managing Director and finance team to maximise financial performance. Act as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders. Play a key role in all aspects of site safety including improving safety culture and performance across the business. Liaise with management teams and contractors regarding operational and safety performance, developing KPI’s with the quay operator to monitor performance. Oversight of plant requirements of the business. Commercial  Work in conjunction with the Managing Director in developing the strategic plan.  Identify business opportunities to continually advance the business and maximise throughput over the quay to increase profitability.  Engage with customers ascertaining satisfaction levels, identifying any corrective actions. Actively promote the quay to businesses both locally and nationally. Financial  Provide operational, commercial and financial information to the Managing Director and finance team Assist in producing monthly / annual budgets and forecasts.  Play a key role in managing operational costs.  Compliance  Ensure compliance in the areas of ISO 9001 & 14001, waste management and permitting, Port Facility Security and general business requirements covering procurement, contractors, safety and working procedures.  Ensure all subcontractors comply with their obligations set out in their respective contracts and work scopes.   Candidates should have extensive experience in Port operations and Logistics Management, allied with strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.  On a personal level you will need to manage multiple internal and external stakeholders. Previous experience in the Offshore Wind & Energy sector would be advantageous. . This represents a great opportunity for someone to make a real mark and will suit someone established in an Operations role. The business is forecast to grow substantially as the Tees Works project matures, and the scope of the role will develop in parallel providing a platform for personal growth and development in a stimulating environment. The business embraces a very commercial and ultimately success-based culture that could be an excellent environment for those forward looking, ambitious and technically sound individuals.  An excellent salary will be available for the successful candidate.
