Job Title: Chemistry Technician and Analyst
Location: Middlesbrough
Salary: 25 - 33k
Shifts: Days regular
Metalis is working in partnership with a large specialist engineering company in Middlesbrough who due to continuous growth are looking to hire a skilled Chemistry Technician on a 12-week temporary to permanent contract.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Booking of work into the Lab Management Information based computer System, typing results in and printing reports.
- Preparation of samples, prior to analysis, by microwave dissolution and polishing / linishing/ sawing/shearing.
- Performing duties in accordance with internal quality system and health & safety procedures.
- Undertaking chemical analysis of metal alloys using a wide variety of laboratory equipment including ICP-OES, OES, XRF, gas techniques such as combustion & fusion.
- Undertaking powder characterisation tests such as particle size distribution, sieve analysis, flow rate, apparent density and tap density.
- Ensuring that equipment maintenance, routine calibrations and quality control checks are performed on time.
- Contributing to the improvement in the organisation and efficiency of the workplace by implementing agreed continuous improvement ideas.
- Monitoring of laboratory consumables and ordering new consumables as required.
- Maintaining high standards of housekeeping within the laboratory.
Shifts and Salary:
- Hours are Monday - Thursday 8.30 am - 5 pm and Friday 8.30 am - 4 pm
- Salary is between a band of 25,000 - 33,000 per annum.
- 12 week temporary to permanent contract.
