About the Role
As an English Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering dynamic and thought-provoking lessons that develop students’ literacy skills, creativity and appreciation of literature. You will be expected to differentiate your teaching to meet the needs of all learners, ensuring every student can achieve their full potential.
Responsibilities of the English Teacher:
- Develop engaging and curriculum-aligned lessons in language, literature and communication skills.
- Teach grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing and speaking skills effectively.
- Inspire students to analyse texts, think creatively and express their ideas confidently.
Evaluate and monitor student performance through assignments, tests and feedback.
- Introduce students to diverse literary works, encouraging an appreciation for reading.
- Adapt teaching strategies to accommodate students with varying abilities and learning styles.
- Maintain a positive, organised and respectful learning environment.
- Help students develop clear and effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Work with fellow teachers to develop and refine the English curriculum.
- Pursue professional development opportunities to implement innovative teaching methods.
Requirements of the English Teacher:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
- A relevant degree in English or a related field (essential).
- Strong ability to deliver engaging and effective lessons.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of the English curriculum and a passion for literature and language.
- Willingness to collaborate with colleagues and contribute to the school community.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
