PC/EPOS Field Service Engineer | Ideally located in Middlesborough (North East of England) – you will be covering all of the North, North East and North West of England | May need to cover Southern Scotland on occasion | 9:00 to 5:30 with flexibility | 4-5 jobs per day | 35,000 miles per annum | Up to £27,000 depending upon experience

Our client is a nationwide IT support organisation established in 1988 working in partnership with manufacturers, software houses, and system integrators. They offer their clients a structured “break fix” service along with engineering resources for installations and rollouts.

A wide range of PC base EPOS equipment is covered with exposure to the latest technologies including:-

  • PC/EPOS
  • Back Office
  • LAN/WAN configuration
  • Receipt Printers
  • Laser Printers
  • Routers and switches
  • CCTV – IP based only
  • Display Systems & Kiosks
  • Digital Signage

The company also provide support for network infrastructures including server build and support, data centre hosting and management.

Market sectors include hospitality, leisure, and retail. The hours of work are dictated by clients and some of these organisations work 24/7 365 days a year.

Are you the right person for the job?

  • You must demonstrate an enthusiasm towards the position. It must represent an opportunity and the candidate must show a flexible approach in terms of travel, hours of work and technical exposure
  • Communication skills both written and verbal are vital as constant communications are required between engineer, customers, and the call centre. Organisational skills are also important with a willingness to accept procedures and follow structured schedules
  • It is important to note the mileage estimates – a driving licence is essential, and you must like driving
  • PC/EPOS skills are essential however training will be provided. You must demonstrate basic PC knowledge and have a practical and logical approach to problem solving

What will your role look like?

You must be able to complete the following tasks unsupervised after some initial training:-

  • New PC installation
  • Re-load MS operating Software and PC rebuild
  • Repair Receipt printers to assembly level
  • Cash Drawer repair – replace springs and solenoids
  • Diagnose and repair laser printers to assembly level
  • Diagnose repair/replace bar code scanners
  • Detect and remove virus infections
  • Investigate solutions to problems independently
