About the Role:

As a Child Protection Social Worker, you will play a crucial role in assessing and managing cases of child neglect, abuse, and exploitation. You will work directly with children and families, conducting investigations, developing care plans, and representing the Local Authority in court proceedings. This challenging yet rewarding role requires strong assessment skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to child-centred practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a complex caseload of child protection cases.
  • Conduct thorough assessments and investigations, adhering to relevant legislation and procedures.
  • Develop and implement effective care plans, working collaboratively with families and other agencies.
  • Represent the Local Authority in court and other legal proceedings.
  • Build strong relationships with children, families, and partner agencies.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Participate in multi-agency meetings and case discussions.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of child protection services.

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker with a relevant degree (DipSW, CQSW, BA/MA Social Work).
  • Registered with Social Work England.
  • Significant experience in child protection work.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989 and 2004.
  • Excellent assessment, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to child-centred practice and safeguarding.
  • Enhanced DBS check.
