We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Children's Social Worker to join our Pre-Birth Team at Redcar and Cleveland Council. This crucial role involves working with expectant parents to safeguard their unborn child and ensure they receive the support they need during pregnancy and beyond.

About the Role:

As a Pre-Birth Social Worker, you will:

  • Manage a small caseload of 8-10 families, allowing for in-depth assessment and intervention
  • Conduct comprehensive pre-birth assessments, considering the needs of the entire family
  • Undertake parental assessments, if qualified
  • Chair case conferences and other relevant meetings
  • Attend court hearings as required
  • Develop and implement effective care plans to safeguard unborn children and promote their well-being
  • Work collaboratively with a range of professionals, including health visitors, midwives, and other social workers
  • Provide support and guidance to expectant parents, addressing any concerns or challenges they may face

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A relevant social work qualification (e.g., DipSW, CQSW, MSW)
  • Significant experience in child protection work, ideally within a pre-birth team
  • A strong understanding of child development, safeguarding principles, and relevant legislation
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with families and professionals
  • A commitment to safeguarding children and promoting their well-being
  • A flexible approach to work, including the ability to work outside of standard office hours when required
