Prospero Teaching is proud to partner with a fantastic Primary School in Middlesborough, seeking an experienced and passionate Teaching Assistant to work on a 1:1 basis with a pupil who has Special Educational Needs (SEN). This position is available to start right after the February half-term and will run for the remainder of the academic year.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 support to a pupil with SEN and challenging behaviour, helping them thrive in their learning environment.
  • Manage challenging behaviour in a positive, proactive, and consistent manner, helping the pupil grow in confidence.
  • Collaborate with Class Teachers to develop and implement strategies that support the pupil's progress.
  • Prepare engaging and effective learning resources and activities.
  • Supervise pupils during break and lunchtime, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
  • Foster a "hands-on" approach by engaging with the pupil in their learning and forming a positive relationship.
  • Communicate with parents and outside agencies to discuss progress and ensure consistent support.

What We're Looking for:

  • A resilient and proactive Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting students with SEN.
  • Experience in a school setting, with a preference for 1:1 support experience.
  • A genuine passion for helping young people achieve their full potential and flourish in education.
  • An ability to form strong, positive relationships with both pupils and staff.
  • A Childcare-based qualification (ideally, but not essential).
  • An Enhanced DBS (on the Update Service is preferred but not required-we can help process a new one).
