Simply Education are working with a outstanding SEMH School in Leyland They are currently looking to appoint an experienced Primary Teacher to join then as soon as possible. The school provides specialist academic and therapeutic support for students aged 9-16 who face challenges associated with social, emotional, and mental health needs.

The Role:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated teacher to deliver a high-quality play-based informal KS1 curriculum to Key Stage 2 and 3 pupils. Our classes are no larger than 8 students, allowing for a highly supportive and tailored approach to teaching.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the class, ensuring effective learning and engagement.
  • Assess, record, and report on students' progress in line with school policies, promoting their development across all areas of learning.
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of pupils, adhering to the school's safeguarding policies and practices.
  • Lead support and professional development sessions for Assistant Teachers and Higher Level Teaching Assistants.
  • Attend and contribute to teachers' meetings and multi-disciplinary staff meetings.
  • Ensure a high standard of personal care for students, monitoring their health and well-being and liaising with care staff, medical teams, and relevant professionals.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • PGCE, QTS, Cert Ed, or equivalent teaching qualification with evidence of in-service training.
  • At least 2 years of teaching experience, including completion of Early Career Teacher (ECT) induction.
  • A solid understanding of students with complex needs and SEND.
  • Experience and knowledge of the Early Years and KS1 curriculum.
  • Expertise in working with autism and associated co-morbid conditions, understanding how these impact learning.
