We’re looking for a qualified Commercial Vehicle Technician to join our team at Thornton Garage for 8 weeks. You will carry out safety inspections and repairs on a range of vehicles, including vans, tippers, refuse lorries, and hiabs.

Key Duties

  • Perform maintenance and repairs on heavy and light commercial vehicles in line with PCC and Department for Transport standards.
  • Respond to breakdowns and assist with roadside recoveries.
  • Prepare vehicles for MOT tests.
  • Participate in an out-of-hours standby rota.
  • Keep the workshop clean and organized.

Essential Skills

  • Current valid driver’s licence.
  • Qualified to City & Guilds or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a vehicle fitter.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desirable

  • HGV/PSV driving licence.
  • Experience with hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic system repairs.
  • Qualified MOT tester (Class 4, 5, and 7).
