Based in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire our rapidly growing client in the sports industry is looking for a qualified accountant to join them as an Assistant Financial Controller working 3 days in the office and two days from home.
This job would suit an ACA, ACCA, CIMA qualified accountant with a minimum of 4 years of technical accounting and/or financial reporting & control experience. The role will provide support to the Financial Controller by assisting in general accounting and financial reporting activities for all internal and external reporting requirements.
This company is a £250M t/o business with operations across Europe that was acquired 3 years ago by a listed US global corporate that works in numerous arenas within the sports industry. The business is a global e-commerce supplier and is looking to continue its significant growth of this division through the addition of a top-quality qualified accountant to support the Financial Controller.
The successful individual will be a qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA accountant with industry experience working in a fast-paced environment such as the retail, FMCG, food, travel type industries. This person will have a strong track record of working in reporting, balance sheet, controls and statutory accounts functions and experience with ERPs (Oracle, SAP, D365) is preferred. Knowledge of US GAAP and SOX and ability to work between International GAAPs and US GAAP would also be an advantage but isn't essential. Strong communication skills are a must have with experience in building cross-functional relationships and partnering with key stakeholders. The ability to speak German or Italian would be useful, but not essential.
Job responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain month end accounting schedules for the main UK trading company
- Assist in producing the consolidated books and records to achieve the closing reporting requirements
- Assist in preparing the balance sheet 'Month on Month' review for group reporting.
- Prepare ad hoc financial reporting requests, other financial analyses and special projects requested by group and management.
- Assist the Financial Controller to both document & improve accounting policies, processes and ultimately controls across all areas of the business.
- Assist in preparing the business to scale-up and be SOX compliant based upon process improvements.
- Assist with any other cross-functional accounting and finance projects including systems implementations and operationalisation of technical accounting and reporting matters.
- Assist in the preparation of the Statutory Accounts and Tax packages for main UK trading company.
- Assist with driving compliance with GAAP and implementation of new standards.
