Financial Systems Accountant - Process Improvement

Near Buckingham - 6 month interim assignment

Salary/Day rate - negotiable - 3 days office - 2 remote

Education & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Data Science, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Additional qualifications in finance systems, data analysis, or process improvement (e.g., CIMA, ACCA, Lean Six Sigma) or QBE would be advantageous.
Experience & Skills:Financial & Systems Expertise:
  • Strong background in finance operations, particularly Accounts Receivable, invoicing, and financial data management.
  • Experience working with financial systems
  • Familiarity with internal controls, data security, and compliance standards in financial processes.
Data & Process Improvement:
  • Proven experience in analysing financial processes and implementing automation to reduce manual intervention.
  • High proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools (Excel, SQL, Power BI, or other BI tools).
  • Ability to design, test, and implement data workflows, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Experience in managing system interfaces, upgrades, and integrations.
Problem-Solving & Decision-Making:
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving inefficiencies.
  • Experience making data-driven decisions and influencing key financial and system developments.
  • Ability to work with IT and finance teams to optimise system performance and reporting capabilities.
Communication & Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to train and support colleagues in financial systems and process improvements.
  • Experience in liaising with external vendors and regulatory bodies for financial systems enhancements.
Soft Skills & Attributes:
  • Proactive and results-oriented, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills to balance routine and ad-hoc responsibilities.
  • Team player with a collaborative mindset, fostering knowledge-sharing and continuous improvement.
  • Adaptability to a dynamic environment with diverse stakeholder needs.
