Technical Estimator

Job Purpose:

To be responsible for generating accurate and comprehensive system cost estimates for façade projects, ensuring that company systems are competitively represented in Partner bids. This role requires in-depth knowledge of façade systems and construction methods to analyse project specifications, interpret architectural and engineering drawings, and determine accurate product selection in line with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Engage with all stakeholders, including Lead Management, Project Coordination, Technical Services, Customer Projects and Sales, as well as engaging with external Partners, identifying potential projects risks, and develop value-engineering options supporting the company’s strategic growth objectives, enhancing partner satisfaction, and securing successful project outcomes.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • To respond in an accurate and timely way, using the tools at their disposal to ensure the return of the quotations within the required timeframe.
  • Initial assessment of project enquiries identifying the best opportunities working closely with Lead Management, Project Coordination and Commercial Sales teams. Prioritise target projects, capacity planning and effective timeline management ensuring all stakeholders expectations are met.
  • Produce material estimates and detailed project solutions for Partners in accordance with project requirements and Partner capabilities.
  • Obtain validation of proposals from relevant technical and/or commercial resources.
  • Create and Maintain estimation register within CPS and report monthly on the progress of submissions within the project pipeline and KPI targets.
  • Support new customer onboarding by providing VE support and estimation capacity.
  • Occasional customer visits in conjunction with sales may be required.

Essential Skills:

  • Proven minimum 3-year industry experience including working knowledge of aluminium systems.
  • Highly proficient in the use of LogiKal or similar estimating software programs.
  • Previous project estimating, ideally within façade and fenestration sector
  • Strong analytical skills including experience of market insight, product analysis and competitor analysis.
  • Strong collaborative and influential skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including report writing, presenting to a variety of audience types.
  • Proficient IT and with common software skills to include MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint with the ability to create spreadsheets and presentations.
  • Excellent customer skills, to ensure a first-class service as this will be a customer facing role.
  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver to agreed deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build close relationships with customers and colleagues at all levels.

Desirable Skills:

  • A relevant professional engineering, architectural or technical qualification
  • Construction industry contracting experience.
  • Detailed knowledge of industry regulatory requirements.
  • Understanding of structural principles and building physics.

Supporting Information:

  • Lives within daily commuting distance of Milton Keynes, although can work from home up to two days per week.
  • Clean driving license

  • Ability to travel within the UK and/or other company offices abroad (sometimes at short notice)
